Amber is not a mineral but an organic product. It is fossilized resin of ancient trees living 25 to 50 million years ago, but some pieces have been found which can be as old as 130 million years. Because of the small insects who could have been trapped inside, amber has helped paleontologists to reconstruct life on earth in its primal phases, and more than 1,000 extinct species of insects have been identified this way.
Amber is said to be a powerful healer and cleanser of the body, mind and spirit. It also cleanses the environment. Amber draws disease from the body, healing and renewing the nervous system and balancing the right and left parts of the brain. It absorbs pain and negative energy, helping to alleviate stress. Larimar is a rare blue variety of Pectolite that is found only in the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean.
Also known as the Dolphin Stone, Blue Pectolite, Atlantis Stone, and Stefilia's Stone. Although Larimar was originally discovered in 1916, it was named by the Dominican who re-discovered it in 1974, taking the first letters of his daughter's name, Larissa, and the Spanish word for the sea, mar, to create Larimar.
