Megalodon meaning "big tooth" in Ancient Greek (also known as the giant "Megatooth" shark), ruled all the warm water seas during the Neogene Period [Miocene (5-24 million years ago) and Pliocene (1.67-5 million years ago). Megalodon was the largest shark to ever exist and reached lengths of over 50 feet.

Some interesting facts about Megalodon:
- Pliny the Elder, around 70 AD, believed shark teeth were triangular objects dropped from the sky during lunar eclipses.
- In the middle ages, Europeans thought they were "tongue stones" or petrified tongues of dragons and snakes. They were worn as pendants and used in medicine.
- Native Americans used shark teeth as necklaces and even tools such as scrapers.
- The actual name "Megalodon" was named by Louis Agassiz in 1843.

Revered by many cultures for centuries, Fossils, because of their age, are often used as talismans for protection and long life. They are links to the past and, as such, can be helpful for past-life visualization, astral travel and increased knowledge of ancient ways. Fossils are associated with the earth element, which can heighten one’s intuition, especially when learning about crystals.
